Others though want no part of the relentless scene fearing distraction and burnout. At schools renowned first and foremost as party destinations, achieving balance proves critical.

West Virginia University

When I walk through neighborhoods like Euclid Avenue on weekends, pulsating music and dancing spill from these Sorority/Fraternity houses for blocks. Streets overflow with students bopping between open parties.
Ohio State University
Transitioning to the Midwest, Ohio State University accommodates over 50,000 students giving it a constant buzzing atmosphere.
While strong Greek life certainly fuels big parts of the party scene, OSU‘s sheer size enables intense excitement. Unlike small rural colleges where things quiet down, the kinetic energy in Columbus, OH proves inescapable.
Additionally, Buckeyes take immense pride in their elite football legacy ranked as a perennial Top 10 program. Chalk talk, Buckeye Grove, Mirror Lake jumps…you feel that mania across campus on game days.
Penn State University
Up in Central Pennsylvania, Penn State University also balances prestigious academics amidst blowout parties. Alcohol gets ingrained early here…
A 2016 campus health study shockingly found over 93% of first-semester freshmen reported drinking. With State Patty‘s Day riots and football coach statues now needing 24/7 guarded surveillance, school spirit clearly overflows!
Arizona State University
Finally, flying across the country to gorgeous Tempe, Arizona, Arizona State University soaks up Southwest sun and fun.
While not as Greek-dominated as Midwestern/Northeast schools, ASU still parties with carefree abandon. The warm weather, palm trees, and proximity to Scottsdale nightlife definitely enhance that lazy desert vibe.
Plus, ASU recognizes students crave recreation as much as academics. Their 130+ student clubs/organizations ensure everyone finds their niche to bond around.
One senior describes it fittingly: "Pretty much everything we do – float the river, hit up bottle clubs or EDM shows…there‘s just a relaxed yet crazy energy that‘s so contagious here."
Safety First – Responsibility Over Recklessness
After hearing about all this madness, it becomes so tempting imagining joining the party pandemonium. But if choosing one of these schools, please keep personal safety the priority.
Tragedies still happen everywhere when drunkenness goes unchecked. Have frank talks about setting boundaries and moderating drinking long before move-in weekend.
